How to Give a Custom Figure as a Gift

You do not need a photo

This is the question that stops most people, so it is worth answering first: you never upload anything. You build the figure from parts — skin tone, eye shape, brow, hair style and colour, outfit, shoes, extras — and you pick them from memory.

That turns out to be an advantage. You are not trying to reproduce a photograph, you are trying to reproduce what someone looks like in your head, which is usually their silhouette and the three things they always wear.

Pick the outfit they actually own

The instinct is to dress a gift figure in something smart. Resist it. The version that gets recognised across a room is the one wearing the jacket they wear constantly, not the one they own for weddings.

The same is true for extras. The glasses they never take off, the chain, the one pair of shoes — those do more work than any amount of facial fine-tuning.

Order about six weeks ahead of the date

Production takes three to four weeks, and shipping is on top of that: typically two to five business days to the UK and EU, four to eight to the US and Canada, five to ten to Australia and New Zealand, and seven to fourteen elsewhere.

So for a date that matters, six weeks is the comfortable number. If you are already inside that window, a gift card arrives by email in minutes and lets them build their own — which is sometimes the better gift anyway.

It arrives without giving itself away

You can ship straight to them: enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. The outer carton is plain, so nothing on the outside says what is inside or who it is from.

Inside that is the matte collector’s box with a numbered card. If you want to hand it over yourself, ship it to your own address and give them the box.
